Reverse osmosis pretreatment process in seawater desalination

1）Preliminary Screening

In the first step of seawater desalination, larger particulate matter in the seawater needs to be filtered out through equipment such as screens.

2）Fine Filtration

Remove fine particles and organic matter, such as algae, from seawater.

3）Ultrafiltration Stage

During the ultrafiltration stage, water flows through the ultrafiltration membrane at a low pressure below 6 bar, and frequent backwashing is required to prevent clogging.

In addition, ultrafiltration membranes are regularly cleaned using diluted chemicals, such as acids like citric acid, hydrochloric acid, or sulfuric acid, to remove inorganic fouling.
